A. 1, 2, 3, 4: Parliamentary Procedure 1, 2: Student Adviser 4, Minstrel 45 Basketball 23 4-H 12 Barbershop Quartet 3, 4, Manager 3g Lima Vocal Con- test 4. i gemf- Class History Delving into the past, we found that on the morning of September 9, 1940, 17 active, sparkled-eyed youngsters presented themselves at York School to begin a process which was to change them from a group of wriggling, unadjusted children who had not, up to this moment, realized that there were so many interesting children of their own age or so many interesting things to do. Of these l7, who were under the direction of Miss Ruth Johnson, 12 have completed their schooling at York. And so the process began by which these students were to develop into the well-adjusted young people that we find them today. Having passed through the first grade, and feeling quite grown-up, we en- tered the second grade under the direction of Miss Hyde. Remember when Carol had a crush on Fenton Bagley? Into the third grade, and we began to learn the three R's under the super- vision of Mrs. Jones. Remember when Kay stuck her foot into the aisle and tripped Stanley Dee? And what was Stanley's reaction! During the fourth year, under the guidance of Mrs. Wright, we learned the true meaning of order in a classroom Remember the time when part of the class went on a hike, but the rest of them had to stay bhind because they missed a spelling word? Jane Swygart and Joann Evans joined us as permanent classmates during our dfth year. During this grade and the sixth grade we had Mr. D. Edwin Jones as a teacher. None of us will forget how we had to stand in line for him to use the dreaded hickory stick. We really had to begin studying in earnest when we entered the seventh and eighth grade under the leadership of Mrs. Pugh. If we didn't study hard, there was 'always plenty of room for use to stand around the wall. We plunged headlong into our Freshman year, unaware that we knew so little. It was Mrs. Shackelford's understanding guidance that brought us safely through this trying time. Mr. Shade was our sponsor during the Sophomore year, when we were be- coming more familiar with the high school routine. At the end of this year we took a very enjoyable trip in to Southern Ohio. We were again fortunate to have Mrs. Shackelford as our directo'r during our Junior year. We experienced publishing the Spotlight and gave a very successful play Grandad Steps Out. But the highlight of the year was honoring the Seniors at the Junior-Senior Prom. The climax to this process was reached in our Senior year, when, under the excellent direction of Mrs. Morris, we presented the class play Quiet Everybody, 'published the Talisman, and made preparations for the trip to which we are now looking forward. Our plans are to visit Gettsyburg, Washington, D. C., New York City and Niagra Falls. Kay Galloway

Class Will We, the Senior class, of York School, having been allowed to reside here for a period of time under our favorite parent, the faculty, feeling it is our duty to surrender the privileges we have thus far enjoyed, being fully convinced that we are of sound mind, publish and declare this our last will and testament. FIRST: To our beloved successors the Juniors, we will our studious characteristics and good manners. SECOND: To the Sophomores, we will our good intentions and quiet disposition. THIRD: To the Freshmen, we will our good grades and dependability. FOURTH: To the school, we leave the monuments of our school days, such as: broken furniture, iinger-smudged walls, second-hand gum deposits, initialed desks, and well-worn books. I, Marilyn Lewis, will my ability to go with any Celina boy to Marcia Taylor. 7 I Mary Platt, will my ability to stay out of trouble to Doris Davis. I, Carol Phelps, will my ability to stay away from boys to the Freshmen girls. ' I, Kay Galloway, will my ability of being school pianist to anyone who doesn't want any time to study. I, Ellen Price, will some of my excess weigth to Virginia Rider. I Mary Helen Davies, will my ability to type and to consentrate on what I 7 am doing to Richard Krugh. I, Jane Swygart, will my disposition to Kenneth Kundert. I Joann Evans, will my ability to play the trombone to anyone who has 7 arms long enough to do it. I, Mary Jane Welker, will my abilty to get along with the teachers to the Freshmen girls, especially Tonia Fishbaugh. I, Bill Hughes, will my ability to run around at all hours to anyone who can take it. I, David Evans, will by ability to stay out till three o'clock in the morning to anyone who can live through it.
