Miss Burgett has taught us thus far. Our class was saddened by the death of Claude Starbuck. Donald George and Richard Evans led our group with Helen Hiller filling a vacancy. This has been an exciting year diary. April 1937 Well diary. another year almost ended. Donald Jones left us but Don Phelps entered our group. Miss Brown had the task of teaching us as we got less bashful and afraid of school. May 1938-39 We have neglected you, diary. in the last two my ears. but many things have happened under Miss Kriecher and Miss Evans. Donald Wagner and Ronald Harp proceeded while Gene Fronefield and Dorothy Crowe filled empty seats. Many have shown dramatic ability in the operettas in which we have participated. May 1940-41 D. Edwin Jones was our teacher these last two years. David Girod left us and Clarence Wallick came to stay. May 1942-43 As years go by Miss Jones and Mrs. Lewis supervised our classes while David Van Eman went to the Armed Forces. Paul Linton was voted our first class president. Tom Miller left our ranks of problem children this year. June 1944 Gee. diary our school was very exciting this year with our Freshman year behind us. With new friends and activities this year was an outstand- ing one. May 1945 Well. we are now dignified upperclassmen with Miss Hessenburger at our head and many new experiences. June 1946 Well. to take our time again diary, to reveal the facts. We put on our first class play with Marilyn Evans and Earl Davis in the leading roles. It was a success called the Whole Truth. We also received our class rings with some changing possessions soon after. We held our Prom. the event of the year. at the Whitehall Inn. April 1947 This year is almost over diary. I am writing the last entry in your pages. Mrs. Morris directed our play the Galloping Ghosts . We made a jaunt to Fort Wayne to take our photos. Mrs. Morris entertained us very nicely at a Holiday party before Christmas. Bill McNamee and Everett Rigdon increased our group. Well before I close your pages diary. there are many memories not written here. but aren't to be forgotten and so I will close these pages for now. 17 Class Will We, the Senior Class of 1947 of York High School having been acknowledged mentally and physically perfect by the dear faculty and devoted underclassmen. do hereby make our last will and testament. 1. Ohio January 13. 1957 Dear Georgia: Well George it has been ten years since we left good old York High. I was thinking about you the other day and I thought I would write you and tell you about all our old classmates in case you don't know about them. I was glad to hear that you and Lloyd Miller are happily married on your 120 acre farm. I bet those two little red-headed kids keep you busy. David Williams is now chief engineer at Wright's Field in Dayton. Remember all those model planes he used to build. Don Phelps has now gone into the turkey business for himself. People from all over the country come to Phelps' Turkey Ranch to get their turkeys. Remember how he used to work for the Jones Brothers. Since Marcia Painter has worked at Balyeat's for such a long time, Don and Stub finally decided to make her manager of everything. Paul Linton and Rita finally took the fatal step. They are now living on their 300 acre farm with a complete line of Minneapolis Moline machin- ery and a Plymouth car for each one of them. Ray and Jay Couts have now gained their places in Barnum and Bailey's side show as the biggest men on earth. They sure have grown since they left York. Clarence Wallick has invented a new type of Allis-Chalmers tractor that goes fifty miles an hour on the road. It almost keeps up with the Green Hornet, the name we used to call his car. Remember how he used to drive it .around and turn his spotlight on people. Ida Thomas has half interest in McCoy's Flower Shop in Van Wert. They are going to start a new shop in Venedocia. She and Johnny have the best and most beautiful flowers in the world. Everett Rigdon is now President of the Watkins Company and boy is he ever rolling in the money. George Couts has made a name for himself as an all star basketball player for the Zollner Pistons and has won several awards. Marilyn Evans is now an opera singer in the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City. I have never heard her but from the publicity she gets I guess she is pretty good. Warren Morris and Johnny Schwartz are now partners and they run the largest nite club in the state of Ohio. They have only the most exclusive bands and beverages. Bill McNamee is now Coach for York. He has the best team in the county and the last few years his boys have been victorious over the State. Well Dorothy Crow finally got her ring. She is now living in wedded bliss in Haviland. Remember how Dorothy always said she wouldn't get married. Boy did she ever lose a lot of bets. Earl Davis finally made the movies. He plays opposite Lucille Ball and for the last two years he has won the Oscar for being the best actor. Did you see his latest show Moonlight on the Little Auglaizeu? He was simply wonderful. As you probably know I am happily married and I have my own Beauty Shoppe right in my home. If you ever need a permanent you know where to come.
