Girls' Chorus At the beginning of the first semester, thirty-five members enrolled in the Girls' Glee Club, which was organized under the direction of Miss Burke with Evelyn Price elected as President and Mary Morris, librarian. We participated in the Christmas Program, and in the Farmers' In- stitute and County Music Festival at Van VVert, under the direction of Mr. Hauenstein. Our purpose and aim is to be able to appreciate and enjoy good music and also be able to make good music. Fourth Row: James Heath, James Zirkle, Carl Lewis, John Adams, Robert VValtz, Billy Lewis, Marvin Evans, Eugene Overholt, Ervin Johnson. as Boys' Chorus Thirty-three lusty-lunged boys assembled in the music room at the beginning of '39-'40 school year to form what we now call the Boys, Chorus. We were under the capable direction of Miss Burke, who left us at the half of the year. We appreciate all the time she spent with us and we hope that she will consider it well spent. Her successor was Mr. Roger Hauenstein, a graduate of Bluffton College, who did a fine job of directing this Music organization. Half-frozen, we were warmed by hot chocolate at Superintendent White's home in Venedocia and then after singing some more we had a fine breakfast at Mr. 'Tom Morris' home. On a Saturday, January 20, we went to Versailles where recordings were made of several numbers. Those will recall many happy memories of the 'fChoir and its activities. Under the direction of Miss Burke and later Mr .Hauenstein, we sang for the Christmas program, Farmers' Institute, and the County Music Festival. The training in A capella singing and appreciation of good music will encourage us to participate in future group singing.
