President Mr. Brown -U -.,, Sponsor Class History September 1928 found a Wide-eyed group cf boys and girls entering school for the first time. There were 27 members in our class. Of these, Betty George, Betty Monroe, Nell Grunewald, Dorothy Williams, Billy Lewis, Ethel Jones, Carl Lewis, Kathryn Thatcher, Kathryn Kline, James Heath, Eloise Lininger, Mary Morris, Lowell Overholt, Arthella Thcmas, Marvin Evans, and James Zirkle, will graduate this spring. In March of our first year Altabelle Starbuck joined our ranks. We were. successfully guided through our first year by Miss Olwen Jones. Our second grade was under the direction of Miss Helen Waltz. Again our class was increased when Elenora Linton and Betty Young entered. Our third grade was sponsored by Miss Edna Waltz, and our class was increased when Lloyd Morris entered. In our fourth year the class was divided, part being under Miss Ilo Brown and, part Miss Mary Davies. At this time Russell Fisher joined our class. Our fifth grade was under the direction of Miss Ilo Brown. It was during this year that Joe Couts entered York. During cur sixth, seventh and eighth grades we were under the direction of D. Edwin Jones and Alonzo Rhoades. Here we gained a firm foundation for the four years to follow. The next fall we entered high school as green Freshmen. Mr. R. Paul Jones did a very good job of guiding us through our first year. Don Detrick joined our class during this term. Our first class party was held at the home of Betty Young. With much more confidence we came back in the fall of '37 to join the ranks of the upper classmen. We had two new members in our class this year, June Gross- nickle and Evelyn Price. We organized our class with Mr. Dana Swinehart as spon- sor and Lloyd Morris as president. Our annual class party was held at the home of Billy Lewis. As Juniors we elected the following oflicers: Mary Morris, President, Lowell Over- holt, Vice-President, Betty George, Treasurer, and Lee Lare, Secretary. Our sponsor this year was Miss Frances Hessenberger. John Adams and Dick Stuber joined our class during our Junior year. We were very thrilled in presenting our class play, Crashing Society, which was a great success. On the 19th day of May 1939 we- pleasantly bid good-bye to the Seniors at our reception in the Red-Letter Cafe. We organized our Senior class, under the direction of Mr. Miller Brown, with the following ofiicers: President, Lloyd Morris, Vice President, Kathryn Kline, Secretary, Elenora Lin- ton, and Treasurer, Evelyn Price. On the 10th of May we successfully presented our Senior class play, Ghost Pa- rade with Ethel Jane Jones and James Zirkle in the leading roles. The Juniors very pleasantly entertained the class at the Junior-Senior reception Held May 17. Our Baccalaureate exercises were held Sunday night, May 19, with Rev. Jones of Venedocia, as speaker. We received our diplomas at our Commencement on the 20th of May when Rev. Wobus, of Dayton, delivered a very interesting message. By: Altabelle Starbuck.
