foreword Every area of York County is touched by water- -small streams, creeks, and tributaries that lead in turn to a more extensive body , the York River. We feel that this river, a familar sight to every- one, provides an apt symbol of life at York High School in 1960- 61. Like the river that grows in power, size, and depth as each tributary joins on its flow down- stream, we have grown and ex- panded this year at York High in building, number, and knowledge so that 1960-61 will long be re- membered as the year of expansion. In the following pages, we, the staff of the 1961 FALCON, have tried to depict for you this growth and enlargement, as well as life, in our school, located near the banks of the York River at Yorktown, Virginia. 2
