It was so interesting. It also got me to thinking. I looked up paper clip- pings and old letters that I had received in the last few years and I think I know about what all the kids in the Yellville-Sum it graduating class of l9hB are doing now and where they were living a few months ago. Of course, you remember that LaVern Tolliver and Charles Narramore were married after we graduated that spring. They are living in Yellville now and have the sweetest twins, a boy and a girl. I visited them when I was there last Christmas. She gave me lots of news about some of the kids. She said that Janie Burns and Riley Brooksher were married in June, 1953. They are living in Little Rock now. Janie is working with the F. H. A. Department and Riley is doing construction-engineering with a company there. Yellville, is now quite a summer resort. It has grown so much you would hardly recognize the school and all the familar places we use to ha nt so much. A. G. Keeter is now teaching Vocational Agriculture there. He married Gaye Lefevers back in '5h. They have a cute little boy named Gaylan. I. H. Owens has an automobile business at Summit. Doing quite well for himself LaVern said, however, I did 't get to see him. I did see Arnold Koester, or perhaps I should say Mayor Koester. As you know he is in politics now. He said he might run for governor next term. Sara Bell Gray and her husband have a tourist court near the Lake on the other side of Summit. Quite a fashionable place. They have two girls. Flossie Rae Higley has a flower shop down town. Doing very well I was told. I went down but she wasn't in and I didn't get to see her. She is married and has two boys. You know the funniest thing happened while I was down there. I was walking down the street and a little boy ran out of the grocery store on the corner. All three children had black hair and a dimple in their chins. E. G. and Mary Ruth were home visiting. E. G. has an air transport company in Los Angeles. - Oh! yes, I mustn't forget to tell you about the popular hang-out for the high school crowd. It's called WThe Mouse Trap,N and guess who owns it? Of course B. E. Ingram. Quite a place. I went in one afternoon for a soda and talked to B. E. and Barbara, that is I tried to talk to them for it was so noisy I could hardly hear. They have been married six years and have two children, boys, exactly like B- E. While we were in Yellville last Christmas, you know how kids are, Billie got in a fight and knocked part of a tooth out. I was taking him to a dentist when someone recommended Dr. Robison. As there are so many Rbbisons around there I never dreamed I knew him and what a pleasant surprise when I walked in and there was Warren. He said he had been in dentistry for two years. He is still an eligble bachelor, quite a good looking one, too, mustache and all. He said Clarence was living out near lull, farming, but mostly raising goats and kids. He said Clarence was married in 1950 and they have four children He married a girl from Flippin. You know they called her Giggles or Tickles I know you have been reading the or something like that I don't remember. The Yellville-Summit High School has made quite an advancement. teach dancing. Every class from the sixth through has it three times a Irs. Louise Dwyer Owens teaches it. Louise married J. D. Owens in l9h9. have one little girl. I saw both Louise and J. D. I often wondered if the man who was at the head of it was the boy Curtis Pangle who finished high school with us and last month as we were passing through Washington, we met him at a reception of a friend of ours and it really is Curtis. We had quite a long reminiscence of our last year of high school. He is married and has been for the past five years. He married the girl he was going with in high school. Betty Gutherie, you re- member get to Curtis allthe time. her? They have two girls, Curtis showed me their pictures but I didn't meet them. They really are pretty. One is dark and the other blond. and Betty have bought them a home in Washington and plan to live there I was looking through my scrapbook the other day and found several news- paper clippings. One was the account of Alma Lee Jefferson and Troy Smith's wedding back in 1950. They are living in Phenoiz, Ariz. now. 'Troy owns the Chevelot Motor Company there and Alma is a model mother and wife. Another clipping was the announcement of Yard in Yellville. Claud Avey owns it. I saw quite a large business. He seems to have done I also came across a picture and clipping ball team. It was last year's paper. She had the opening of the Avey Lumber it when I was there Christmas quite well for himself. of Lorene Arnold and her basket won the state tournament. She is coaching ball and teaching Physical Education at Yellville. She married Lester Risley after school was out in l9h8. Just before we left about the Sth of March, I had a most pleasant sur- prise. Norma Lou Mears flew in from South America where she is doing a splen- did job of supervising a Nurses School. She was on her way to visit Ivo Jean Bogle in New York. Ivo Jean is working in a Children's Hospital there Norma is married, and has a little boy named Norman. She married a doctor Ivo Jean is getting married next month, Norma Lou was going to stay until after the wedding. Ivo Jean is marrying Loren Thomas. You know he use to live at Cotter. It certainly took her long enough to decide to marry him. Oh! yes, Yellville has a new taxi service, Cab hh. C. D. Gilley owns iff- He has about 25 taxis I was told but I didn't get to see him and I did so want to. They said he was married and had four children. Well, I got a letter from LaVern before I left and she happened to men- tion that Doris Mae Davenport came to see her the other day. Doris finally married her Gerald and they are living in Kansas City now. They have three boys. Oh! yes, she did mention that she saw Yvonne Reed downtown and that Yvonne said that they had come back to Yellville to live. She and her hus- band were living in Washington. Of course, I keep in touch with Mrs. Cavaness, who was our senior class sponsor. She was down home last summer for a vacation. She has quit teach- ing school but tney still live in Yellville. Last September when we were in Albuquerque, New Mexico, I was never so shocked in all my life. We were driving around the countryside viewing the scenery one afternoon when we saw a beautiful home down in the valley. On the road leading down to it were playing three small boys and two small girls. They were so dark they looked like Mexicans so we stopped to talk to them. We were surprised when they spoke English perfectly, but they didn't wait for us to get out of the car they climbed in and one piped up NThat way misterng We knew nothing to do but take them home. You can imagine what a shock when we drove up to the gate and David Sewell cameiout to meet us. You know he always said he was going to have the largest family in Arkansas, but I never believed him. He married Ruth Ann Dillard in 1950. They also have a small baby. David is doing some kind of government work there but Ruth Ann said he didn't do anymore than he had to. I bet those kids keep him plenty busy without having to work at an office. How are the children? That picture you sent of the twins sure is sweet. Merry is a lot like you but Bobby is exactly like his Dad, that dark hair and eyes and his winning ways. How is little Peter? I am so anxious to see him. Does he look like you or Bob? How is your writing coming along. I read your last article in the Christian Advorat. It really was good. Why don't your use your own name for your writings? I bet several of the kids that grad- uated with us that year doesn't know that you are doing journalism work. Well, I must close I see the children coming. Billie sure is having a wonderful time. He pretended all the time we were on the boat that he was the captain and Glenda was his mate. We are doing some research work for the Board of Missions but are taking some time off for a vacation. I l . dlp A CLASS HISTORY The l9U7-M8 Seniors entered grade school in September, 1936, with only three of the present members enrolled. They were Alma Lee Jefferson, William Riley Brooksher, and LaVern Tolliver Flossie Rae Higley and Doris Mae Davenport entered our class in the second grade. During our third year of school two more of the present Seniors, Clarence Robison and Claude Avey, added their names to our class It was not until the sixth grade that another member, Mary Ruth Weast, enrolled. Curtis Pangle and Arnold Koester entered this class dur- ing the eighth year. Our class enrollment was greatly increased the Freshman year. A. G. Keeter, C. D. Gilley, W. H. Owen, and Louise Dwyer all joined us that year. Troy Smith and Ivo Jean Bogle enrolled in our Sophomore class the next year. The Junior year was our big year as far as the gaining of new members was concerned. Jane Dale Burns, Patty Ann Sand- stead, Nell Dean Bruner, Norma Pears, David Sewell, and Warren Robison added their names to our class roll that year. We were glad to welcome Lorene Arnold, B. E. Ingram, and Sara Rell Gray into our class this, our last year of school.
