I we Student Mike Evans, left, ponders a question with Mr. Bill Gipe, chairman of the Guidance and Counseling Department. Service to students is the main reason for th existence of the Counseling Center at Yavapai College according to Mr. Bill Gipe, chairman of the Guidanc and Counseling Department. Usually a student's first Contact with the Counseling Center is at the time of registration. The first step in the registration process is when the student meets with a counselor to plan a course of study. Instead of a rnass registration procedure, Yavapai College believes in an individual approach. This is accomplished by having a half-hour to an hour interview in which the student and counselor plan the courses that the student will ta ke. lf a student plans on transfering to another college or university, much care is taken to be sure that the courses he will take at Yavapai College will be appropriate for the courses of study. The Counseling Center also participates in re- gistering students for courses in the communities outside of Prescott. Counselor Mrs. Carol Ammerman, standing, and Mrs. Robert Hall, secretary, prepare scholarship information for Yavapai College students.
