This year's Speech squad increased its members from twelve last year to seventeen this year. These students participated in many tournaments around the state including ones at Tillamook, Canby, Linfield College and many others. Top honors this year Went to Eric Wood, who brought home a trophy in which he was awarded from his After Dinner Speaking, Shiela Long who was awarded a trophy for her humorous speech and Matilda Myers who earned first place in District in the Grand Masters Youth Oratorical Contest and second in Regional. janet Thornton also captured first in both area and district in the Voice of America Contest. This year the Pep Club did such things as making signs and selling spirit ribbons to promote spirit among the Y-C stu- dents. Under the leadership of President julie Fox, this club earned money for such things as a group activity and money for the wrestling rally to go to State . This year the Art Club did such things as paint windows at Christmas and sponsor a KYTE dance which was hosted by dis jockey Ron Leonard. Two new clubs, Science Fiction and Radio Communica- tions, were added to the list of clubs at Y-C this year. The Science Fiction club did such things as writing stories and taking a trip to OMSI and the Radio Communications club held weekly radio broadcasts on KMCM, a local radio station in McMi1mvi11e . 241 CLUBS

4 Yearbook, ational Honor Society 3j Tiger Lines had few major changes this year. Advertising sales in- creased considerably and this year's book sold more copies than any other Y-C annual. Besides working on the yearbook, the class took on a new project, a calendar to help raise money for next year's yearbook. YEARBOOK STAFF--FRONT ROW: jim Turner, Marybeth Powell, julie Donnell, Renee Fortune. SECOND ROW: Mrs. Smith, George Kaufmann, Patti Cook, Randy Montgomery, Nancy Reynoldson, Terin Tolleson. BACK ROW: Vicki Smith, janet Thornton, Shari Sager. 4j National Honor Society tapped in 15 new members. Traditional gold tassels were presented to seniors. Two community projects were done by NHS, painting the Yamhill park booths and painting the Carlton park benches. A picnic was also held at the Flyning M.
