The Trojans SOFTBALL The Trojans opened then' athlet1c program th1s year wlth softball twenty fxve boys reportxng to Coach Bye The1r f1rst task was to play Iroquoxs result1ng 1n a wxn They had several other games w1th nexghbormg schools The Beadle County Tournament was held xn Huron on October 7 The Trojans secured the trophy as a result of wlnnlng the tournament The Trojans had a very successful season wlth exght wms and no losses We are lookxng forward to a very good team next year and we hope they wxll keep up Yale Hxgh s ex cellent record BASKETBALL Basketball got underway th1s year as soon as possmble wlth exghteen re port1ng to the coach They reahzed there were posxtxons open for them and went ahead to earn them After nearly three weeks of pract1ce they opened thexr season at Cavour whlch saw the Trojans take the fxrst game of the season The Trojans have had a very successful season wlth taklng the Beadle County Conference Runners up ln the County Tournament D1str1ct 14 Champlons and Runners up 1n Regxonal 4 held at Gettysburg March 3 The Trojans have had a splendxd year and hope for a contxnuance m 1951 TRACK There are several track meets and we plan to attend all of them The Corn Palace Relays are held at Mitchell on Aprxl Z1 1950 Cralg Stoltze Sports Wr1ter for the Daxly Plamsman wrote about us Several things have been occupylng our m1nd the past week and we haven't had an opportumty to set them down Fzrst and foremost we would hke to add our trlbute to those already pa1d Eddxe Bye's Yale Trojans Thxs a ball club whom most experts wouldn t concede a chance of golng to the dxstrxct let alone the regxonal fxnals proved what can be done when a bunch of klds has the 'w1ll to wm Yale wasn't outfought all season long and the remarkable ab1l1ty of the players to outjump thexr opponents steal passes and grab loose balls made them an outstandmg club Jxmmy Klelnsasser Leroy Hxntz Jurame Hormg Ralph Bxch Jun Ford Leland Klemsasser Tony Stahl and Coach Eddle Bye all deserve the h1ghest pralse Thanks Craxg Stoltze' 2.3 The opening of the track season will depend upon the weather conditions. 6 . , . . . , z, n 1 .
