Freshmen get it together at the Frosh Mzxer Come to the frosh mixer! This is your chance to meet some of those darling Brophy boys! Xavier's senior class officers, along with Brophy's Student Council, publicized this long known statement. So the freshmen went to the mixer with dreams of leaving with a boyfriend, little did they know. The music was good, thanks to Tim Sterling and Company, the food was delightful tif you like hot dogsl. The swimming pool was refreshing lto the three boys who indulged-needless to say no girlsl. The typical scene: - boys next to the food stand-girls next to the dance floor, waiting to be asked. But all in all it was really fun. It broke the ice so to speak and there were a few budding romances as a result. Another result-100 left over hot dogs! The frosh mixer is undoubtedly one of the greatest events of the high school years. n I 14 .,! Left: Brophy frosh eyes some new prospect. Above: Brophy and Xavier mix.

Bishop dedicates Luffy Hall Bishop Edward McCarthy came to Xavier to bless and dedicate our new building, and give out honors and awards. Cecelia Zeleski presented a flag donated by her parents in memory of their son, Philip, who was killed in Vietnam. Scholastic awards were presented after a talk on youth involvement by the Bishop. Many sophomores, juniors, and seniors received honors for perfect attendance, language proficiency and science accomplishments. A ceremony was held that evening. Jessie Garcia, Ann Causey, and Martha Rodriguez were hostesses. 15
