4:::2 ' My dear Graduates: We happily congratulate you as the tenth graduating class and as the first of the new Xavier High School. You were given the sacred trust of bringing to the new school all the loving traditions of the old. And the most cherished is Xavier's filial devotion to Mary. She has stood as the gracious symbol of everything that is noble in human nature. Woman above all women glorified, Our tainted nature's solitary boast, Purer than foam on central ocean tossed. She has ever been Xavier High's glorious boast and you have carried her triurnphantly into the bright halls of the new school to reign supreme in the hearts of all girls of Xavier. We are sure that you will carry her and her virtues further - out from these walls into the world that sorely needs more women much like your glorious Mother Mary. God love you and keep you in His care. II

Dear Graduate, God bless you on this day of days, your graduation. The tremendous change that enters your life today has been long in coming and long in preparation. Yet in your heart you realize that it was all too short, as school doors close behind you and you walk into a clif- ferent life. Into that new life take from the old all that has been good and use- ful: knowledge, yes, and skills in many fields, but, more than these, take with you the pride of your Christian heritage. Take your ideals, clarified and strengthened in completely Christian surroundings, your friendships and your loyalties, never to be relinquished or forgotten, the wisdom that comes from daily contact with the Spirit of Holiness and Truth. Take into your world those strong principles of Catholic womanhood, learned at Mary's knee, that you may be a citadel to,those less favored than your- self. Take your tender love for Christ and let it shine with ever-growing brightness in your life. Take a strong heart and a valiant spirit, so that you, the end-product of Catholic education, may freely give what you have so freely received. And take with you, too, dear Graduate, the love and devotion of your teachers here at Xavier, and the promise of our prayerful concern through all your years. Lovingly in the Sacred Hearth ,Lim waz? c.S...z:, 5274. T3
