ZZ! The efficiency which our president, Dr. Fleck, has shown in the administration of Wyoming Seminary and in meeting all problems connected with it, has been a prominent factor in the growth of Wyoming Seminary. His great ideals have been an inspiration to all the school. Born and reared on a Pennsylvania farm, Dr. Fleck received his f1rst education from country schools. He prepared for college at Grove City Academy and Gettys- burg Academy. In 1898, he entered Gettysburg College and was one of the first mem- bers of the Phi Beta Kappa Chapter when it was first formed there. After graduating from Gettysburg College, he served as vice-principal of Hazleton High School, where he taught Latin, mathematics, and coached football. He then attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he received his M. A. degree. Coming to Wyoming Seminary in 1911 to teach Latin, he remained here and was appointed Dean in 1917. After capably performing the duties of Dean for nineteen years, he rose to fill the presidency in 1936. Two floods, debt, and a war have been among the trials of his administration. He has met all problems confronting the school with calm efficiency. Honors and positions of responsibility have been conferred upon Dr. Fleck by the community and the school world. In 1940, Syracuse University conferred upon him the degree of Doctor of Humane Letters. He has been very active in the Metho- dist Church, and his Bible class has adopted the name The Doctor Fleck Men's Bible Class. His excellent administration of his office as Regent of District Five and also as vice president of the Cum Laude Society has advanced the prestige of Wyoming Seminary among secondary schools. Although Dr, Fleck was separated from us because of illness during the early part of the past year, he has faithfully performed all his duties and has been always thinking of Wyoming Seminary. His fortitude and undying energy serve as examples of courage and faith to all of us.
