Handling the gavel as president this year was Dick Cooper. Other offi- cers included Dick Cryder acting as vice president, Ann Lockeman recording the meetings as secretary, and Tom Skidmcre supervising the treasury. Much of the credit for an outstanding year in all respects goes to the remaining Council members: Dan Pinger, Steve Fischer, Buddy Short, Bonnie Mackay Kenny Meagher, Powell Woodward Brooks Wramplemieir, Emily Romney, and Barry MacKay, and to Mr. Bush, the faculty advisor. ,. I W YD -I of ul Z U DI B SEHULASTIE5 An attempt has been made this year to stress scholarship in all school activities even more than it has been in past years A team was again sent to Miami University this spring to compete in the Oxford Exams In each subject the two persons with the highest grades on the preliminary tests represented the school Results of these exams and rewards were given at the annual Scholarship Banquet Seven students, five seniors and two Juniors, were inducted into the National honor Society in a very impressive candlelight ceremony held at the end of the first semester Eddie Hopple, MaryE Bridges, also Barb Burke, active charter members, conducted the assembly program under the direction of Miss Williams, faculty advisor Dr Carter Good of the organization must be in the upper third of their Junlor ox senior class and demonstrate outstanding character and leadership abilities Members are elected on this basis by the faculty In August four seniors and in November four sophomores appeared at WKRC for the Hello Teacher program to match their wits with Norwood and Terrace Park respectively Both Wyoming teams won, with Howard Ryan re ceiving a wrist watch for the highest score of the sophomore group Wyoming was able to fill the necessary requirements this year for membership in the Cum Laude Society and is now one of the seven Ohio schools to claim this honor Membership is based entirely on scholastic achievements, and is given only to seniors who meet the high grade average Members are inducted at graduation by the faculty scholarship committee acharacter, SC.hOlClY5hap, Leadership, and Service. . , . . . . . For some four weeks the team sweated out calisthenics, blocking and tackling drills, and sprints. Oh, those sprints! With the start of school the empha sis soon turned to perfecting our running and passing attack. As each day passed, the team realized more and more that this year our squad looked exceptionally good. The boys suddenly began to click together, anda smooth offense became apparent to even the most critical. Then our schedule began. At our left end was Dick Cryder. Dick was an unusually good defensive end. Captain Bob Taylor held down left tackle. At 200 pounds, Bob led the team capably through the season. Left guard found Don McGinnis.
