Can one madwoman really alter the fate of mankind? Without a doubt this year's fall play, “The Madwoman of Chaillot' sets out to prove this true. The play opens in a small cafe in Paris. As the people are laughing and carrying on the evil people of the world plan to blow up Paris. The Madwoman of Chaillot (Lisa Davidson) ar- rives on the scene with a mime and Pierre (John Ward) in- forms her of the evil people’s scheme. Aurelia (Lisa Davidson) calls the sewerman (Troy Mc- Donald), to show her the en- trance to Hell so she can rid the world of the evil people. Aurelia’s friends, Constance (Judy Blackmore), Gabrille (Kelly Hunt), and Josephine (Jennifer Clement), come and discuss the whole situation with her. Finally a trial is de- cided on and the rag-picker (Mike King) defends the evil people. After being found guilty, the evil people are tricked into going down to hell. Miraculously the world be- comes bright and cheerful, birds fill the air with song, and love is all around. This play is one of words and culture. Through the innova- tive thoughts and industrious efforts of Mrs. Hopton, Chris Lau, Mr. Scowden, Miss Hot- tenroth and Karen Sidar this year’s play was a great success and enjoyed by all those in- volved.
