OUR PRINCIPAL This is the finest student body that I have ever worked with. These are the words expressed by our principal, Mr. H. Don Scott. He is particularly impressed with the excellent spirit which is evident this year in both the student body and the faculty. There has been a special bond between Mr. Scott and the Class of 1955, for Mr. Scott became prin- cipal of the high school the year this class entered as freshmen. As a friend and counselor, Mr. Scott thoroughly enjoys working with young people in helping them select their careers. The satisfaction of seeing young people develop into fine American citizens is the reward for such guidance. In the words of Henry Adams: A teacher affects eternity, he can never MR. H. DON SCOTT C2613 OUR SUPERINTENDENT You will have to look a long time to find such a fine student body and faculty as is present at Mlooster High School. These words express Mr. D. P. Bodenbendeids feelings toward Wooster High. Our Superintendent points out the fact that lvooster High School has, for a long time, been consistantly high in scholarship. Most of our grad- uates encounter but little trouble in college work. NVe are known across the state as being one of the outstanding speech schools in the country, strong in music and dramatics, and with a very well- balanced intramural and athletic program. As head of our school system, Mr. Bodenbender is proud to be associated with such a splendid stu- dent body and faculty. page eight tell where his influence stopsf, MR. D. P. BODENBENDER

Mr. Donald S. Bell, Mr. Karl E. Hoover, Mr. D. l'. Bodcnbender, Mr. Emmett E. Miller, Mr. Harold Gerberich, Mr. Hlilliam S. Schreiber THE BOARD OF EDUCATION Building is the uppermost thought in the minds of our Board of Education. A 51,500,000 bond levy was passed in the November election by almost a 2 to l majority. The bonds were advertised to sell on january l8, 1955, and sold at a very reasonable interest rate, namely, 2.31 per cent. As a result ol the passing ol' the bond levy, Wooster High School will have rather a com- plete renovation. We will get a new set of shops, a gymnasium, a new science department, a remodeled auditorium, as well as a new lighting system. However, the Board's first step is to take care of the elementary pupils. Four projects will be pllt underway simultaneously. These will be: a foururoom addition to Beall Avenue School, a three-room addition to Pittsburgh Av- enue School, a seven-room new building on the high school site, and a ten-1'OOl1l building on the new site on Park Avenue. This work is getting well underway. In connection with the new building plans, the Board has visited many schools through- out Ohio and in Pennsylvania to see new buildings, studying all types of construction, heating plants, and ventilating systems. They have held several meetings with our school architect, Mr. Huff, to work out the necessary detail for each of the projects. At this writing, plans are being made for the Board of Education to attend the annual Na- tional School Board and Superintendents' Convention at Cleveland. Here the Board will have an opportunity to see exhibits and study the latest in all types of school furniture and equip- ment. Plans are also being laid to attend an all-day meeting at Nela Park to study lighting. With the future of the students in mind, the Board of Education is always willing to listen to new and better ideas. We are indeed fortunate to have such a fine Board of Education.
