Members of the Senate representing organizations have all rights except the right to vote. Any pupil, providing his grades are satis- factory, is eligible to the Senate. The election of new members is held the third week after school opens. Under the guidance of Ford Ross, president, much important work, showing the rapid assimilation of this type of student participation, has been accomplished. The two most outstanding accomplishments of the year were the sponsoring of the Annual benefit show and the initiating and backing of a fund for bleachers in the new athletic field. Bringing the students and faculty into better co-operation than before, the Student Senate has indeed proved itself invaluable to Wooster High. 'Aa 'ff fk X A '1 J N 41.5 L f X f S . Every one of the eight debaters had a chance to speak in at least one of the five debates this season. The affirmative team was composed of Edwin Simpson, George Crowl, Mildred Fowler, and Glenn Spechtg the members of the negative team were Evelyn Messmore, Kingsley Hamilton, Harriet Painter, and Allison Amstutz. All of these debaters acquitted themselves creditably, and this made the task of selecting the most effective debater exceedingly difficult for the judges who were chosen to award the Freed- lander cup. The judges awarded the cup to Miss Mildred Fowler, and it was presented to her by Mr. Freedlander in an assembly before the stu- dent body. Victories were won from Mansfield on March 16 and from Akron West on April 5. Wooster's debaters lost two debates to Ashland and one to Akron West. Wooster High has always been fortunate in having the best of debate coaches. This year was no exception. Whatever success the debaters have had this season is due to Mr. Dozer's patience and unfailing persever- ance in teaching them the fine art of debating. ,f',X-fx, , .
