Sophomores Twenty-four students began their Sophomore year at Woonsocket High. Gordon Haugen and Duane Pickinpaugh dis- continued school the first semester and Robert Thompson transferred to Hot Springs, South Dakota during the second semester. Allen Hegg was the only new student. Class officers were Dan Horan, president; Leon Eddy, vice-presi- dent; and Anita Wolf, secretary-treasurer. Class advisor was Mr. Vance. Those who participated in declam were Mary Brewer, Dan Moran, and Blanche Faber. Marilyn Ammon, Anita Wolf and Louise Hines were on the Redman Staff. Those on the High-Life Staff were Mary Jo Ball, Mary Brewer, Virginia Taylor and Louise Hines. Dan Moran and Anita Wolf were carnival king and queen candidates. The total receipts from the sophomore caass were $82.39 Those who lettered in football .were Dan Moran, Bob Brown, George Fuerst, and Wendell Ferguson. Wendell Ferguson and Dan Moran lettered in basketball.

Freshmen Twenty-three Freshman were welcomed into Woonsocket High School and introduced to their class advisor, Mr. Trabing on August 31, 1953 Evelyn Erickson entered the Freshman class on January f, 195 . Class officers were Tom Brisbine, president; Mary Jane Ferguson, Vice-Presi- dent; and Terry Beddow, secretary-treasurer. Joan Brewster was on the Redman Staff. Those on the Hi-Life Staff were Phyllis Baseman and Audrey Brown. Joan Brewster and Marilyn Gutzmer participated in declam work. The Freshman raised $102.07 for the carnival. Tom Brisbine and Mary Jane Ferguson were the king and queen candidates. Boys taking part in basketball were Terry Beddow, Tom Brisbine, Marion Hegg, Maurice Jensen and John Rauch. Those taking part in football were Martin Bright, Tom Brisbine and Terry Beddow.
