On September I4., 19M » twenty-four shy, bewildered, green freshmen mounted the stairs of Woonsocket Public High School. The class con- sisted of: Ava Anderson, Carl Anderson, Nyla Baughfman, Albert Foos, Thomas Glenn, Betty Lou Goeman, Janice Howard, Marvelyn Jacobson, Ethelyn Kjeldseth,‘Georgia Luthi, Delwood Maurice, Keith Merriman, Ronald Moses, Lila Olson, Jane Parsons, Donald Rauch, Marliss Schroeder, Frances Scott, Bill Smith, Judith Thill, Victor Dean Trudeau, Beverly Van Der Arde, Fay Witte, Jim Mead, and Wayne Smith. Out of this group Ronald Moses was elected President, Ava Anderson Vice-President, and Carl Anderson, Sec-Treas. Keith Merriman and Ava Anderson were the King and Queen candidates, and the freshmen came in second with $ 1) .0• I4.3• Mr. Warne was class advisor. Ethelyn Kjeldseth did not return for the sophomore year. New students were Donald Dechow and Avis Rumelhart. Class officers for the sophomore year were: President, Frances Scott; Vice-President, Jane Parsons; and Sec-Treas. Thomas Glenn. Tom Glenn and Lila Olson were the King and Queen candidates and came in third with $1714-.73. The class advisor was Mr. Fred Meier. Missing from the previous year's group were Beverly Van Der Arde, Jim Mead, and Carl Anderson. New students were Raeburn Grassel and Lyle Pawlowski. Class officers were Judy Thill, President; Tom Glenn, Vice-President; and Raeburn Grassel, Sec-Treas. King and Queen candidates were Fay Witte and Janice Howard and again the class came in second with §215.35 On Feb. 12, 1951, the junior class proudly presented a riotous comedy entitled Cross My Heart” under the direction fo Mr. Warne. Donald Rauch was selected to go to Boy's State and Frances Scott was the delegate to Girl's State. Mrs. Basham was class advisor. Those not returning for the senior year were Marvel n Jacobson and Keith Merriman. Betty Goeman left school at the end of the first semester to become Mr3. Donald Hopper. Class officers were: President, Thomas Glenn, Vice-President, Albert Foos, and Sec-Treas. Avis Rumelhart. King and Queen candidates were Judv Thill and Ronald Moses. The class came In second with $23U 22. Marliss Schroeder entered the music contest at Kimball and received a superior rating for mezzo-soprano. She also went to the regional declam contest and received a rating of excellent. Frances Scott was chosen D. A. R. candidate of the 1952 senior class. Class advisor was Mr. F. E. Fisher. Students on the Hi-Life Staff during high school were: Janice Howard 1» 2, 3, and editor U; Raeburn Grassel, 3, k Jane Parsons, 1, 2, 3, I;; Frances Scott, 3. Those doing annual work were Janice Howard, 1, 2, 3, I4.; Raeburn Grassel, I4.; Betty Goeman, I4.; Avis Rumelhart, I4.; Marliss Schroeder, 3, hi Jane Parsons, 1, 2, 3; Frances Scott, 2, 3, and editor I4.. Sports lettermen during the four years of high school were: Track: Albert Foos,l, 2, 3;Thomas Glenn, 2, 3; Fay Witte, 2, 3. SENIOR CLASS WILL We, the Senior Class of the city of Woonsocket, in the State of South Dakota and in the year 1952, being of a sound mind, establish our last will and testament and do hereby bequeath: To the Freshmen we leave three years that keep getting better all the time. To the Sophomores v.e leave the right to more freedom than last year. To the Juniors v.e leave our old beloved desks and happy times and many worries. Each Senior wills his special talents, qualities, or characteristics to the following students: Ava Anderson wills her giggle to Darlene Georgen. Nyla Baughfman bequeaths her senior dignity to Bob Schutt. Don Dechow bestows his bookkeeping blues to Bob Goeman. A1 Foos gives his girls and curls to Richard Parsons. (Eut not all of them.) Tom Glenn gives his Communist role in Advanced Civics to Red” Noble. Betty Goeman wills her dish pan hands to Joanne Anderson. Raeburn Grassel wills her easy going ways to Wallace Rauch. To Wary Ashfeld, Janice Howard wills her chatter, and that's quite a bit.1 Georgia Luthi wills her ability to keep quiet to Juanita Baseman. Delwood Maurice blesses Ronnie Marsh with his shy smile. Ronald Moses wills a million dollars to anyone who will meet his ship for him when it comes in. Lila Olson bequeaths her brov n eyes to Marlene Riesland. Jane Parsons bestows her love for Biology specimens to Shirley Hansen. Lyle Pav lowski gives half of his height to Pete Peterson. Donald Rauch wills his variety of girl friends to Bob Parsons. Marliss Schroeder wills her book reports to Jim Jensen and Bob Brewer. Frances Scott wills her home work to Jim Davis. Wayne Smith wills his cowboy boots, music, horses, and cowgirls to Tommy Steichen. Bill Smith gives his ability to sleep in assembly to anyone who needs it. Judy Thill leaves her ready laugh to Lila Feistner. Victor Trudeau wills his blush to Theresa Howard. Fay 7 itte gives his sailor man build' to Richard Sweeny. Avis Rumelhart wishes to will her troubles in high school to her beloved sisters.
