Fifty years ago, a scholastic education wasn't as essential to getting a iob as it is today. With good physique, normal intelligence and character, most any mature male could find some form of work for a livelihood. However, even then, high school and college graduates held the advantage in iob selection and progression. As industrial techniques became more sophisticated, and pressure ot expanding population created greater competition tor iobs, the need for advance preparation in education and skills has increased. Today, a high school diploma is a primary requirement for novice iob applicants at Chambers Works. Now entering its second halt-century, Chambers Works will continue to look upon the graduating classes ot Salem County high schools as a maior source ot tuture employees, male and female, for non-technical positions and lwith college degreesi for technical posts.
