THESE SEVEN MEMBERS of the Bee Football Squad were chosen as outstanding athletes by Northern League coaches-ROW l: Rudy Valencia, Danny Duran, Tom Serratto. ROW 2: Ray Ogawa, Ronnie Hull, Max Hernandez, Mitchell Dimkich. Qmzzj' AGAIN IN 1955 Wilson's lack of depth hampered its success. However, there were several standouts. The surprise of the year was Mike Habley of the J.V.'s. Never out for any sport before, he came out and ran like a veteran. On the l0th grade team, Jack Herrington and Terry Puckett com- bined to finish in 5th and 6th places in the Northern League finals. Alfonso and Abel- ardo Lopez ran in the league finals after playing football all season. Alfonso placed third in the finals. Wilson's captain, Ruben Yuriar, finished 8th in the varsity classifi- cation. Another pleasant surprise was tenth grader Doug Lindberg who was moved to the Varsity and behaved like a seasoned performer. ln the city preliminaries, run at U.C.L.A. on a very windy, rainy day, Ru- ben Yuriar placed 20th for the Varsity, Abelardo and Alfonso Lopez finished 8th and l0th, the only Mules to qualify for the city finals. ln the lOth grade David Garcia scored a big surprise by finishing 22nd in leading the lOth grade team across the finish. sei' CROSS COUNTRY SQUAD-Row I: Ruben Yuriar, Abelardo Lopez, David Garcia, Mr. Ross, Tony Vidana, Frank Deckon, Roger Moon. ROW 2: Billy Polanco, Robert Roseman, Douglas Lindberg, Bob Smith, Douglas Robinson, Joseph Cabrera, Rodney Anglin. 55 PICTURED ABOVE are Coach Ross and some of his outstanding cross-country runners, in front Abbe Lopez and Ruben Yurior and in back Doug Lindberg and David Garcia.

ROW 2: Marv Goldman, Irv Rashofl, Frank Sherwood, Ben Davidson, John Langdale, Verne Chapman, Andy Honig, Etan Markowitz. MEM THIS YEAR'S VARSITY was a team to be proud of down to the final gun, They played every game like champions, but fell short of this honor by their final defeat at the hands of league champions Belmont, 60-57. Their fine play and their will to win has brought further credit to Wilson High School. This year's co-captains, all-league Jim Garcia and Rich Montague, spark-plugged your varsity to provide many thrills and much pleasure for you. N Richard Montague and Jim Garcia, co-captains, learn the fine points ol the game from Coach Naslund.
