WlLSON'S i956 varsity football season was very disheartening with each game being a very close battle. The Mules were brilliantly coached by Mr. Bill Samarin, who took a very inexperienced group and made them into ci fine team. The defense proved to be very strong against every opponent. The offense ran a powerful sin- gle wing with a powerful line and hard running backs. The Mules ended the sea- son with one win, two ties, and two de- feats. The team's outstanding players were Rich Pulcifer, lall-cityl guard, Rich Riding, lall-northernl center, Blayne Ferguson, lall- northernl tackle, Mike Scurto, lall-northernl guard. The backfield was particularly inex- perienced with one returning Iettermang this did not prove a decisive factor as the Mules gained many yards. The team really found itself in the last three games, when each player worked with the others wind- ing up a season that will be long remem- bered by many. L X
