QW-llvvilww on A gossamer margin of seven points was all that kept the 1955 gymnastics team-Wilson's greatest gym team ever-from the school's first City title. The Mules scored 16 points in the City meet to finish as Los Angeles' second-ranking team. They swamped all league foes except Verdugo Hills, tieing the Dons 60-60, then clicked in the loop final to insure the Northern League flag for the second straight season. Ernie Montesanti, a three-year veteran, was the top star in a brilliant galaxy coached by Mr. Bob Ross. Montesanti won the City side horse title and placed on the parallel bars. He wound up as the team's top scorer with a total of 128 points. Gerry Huffine, who finished third in tumbling and the long horse in the City meet, was second with 121 digits. Dickie Caro, brilliant ring man, had 93. Montesonti's scoring was surpassed in school history only by the mighty Armando Vega, W'55.
