This year's Lettermen's Club, led by Clarence CMoosel Merriman, winter president, and James Johnson, summer president, brought back noon dances to Wilson and promoted a successful clean campus campaign. Sponsored by Mr. Bill Samarin, their many events on and off the training grounds proved most worthwhile. They assisted in ushering at school assemblies for service, and held a hayride for fun. lETTERMAN'S CLUB-FIRST ROW: Ramiriz, Neilson, Rodriguez, Cook, Timbrello, Luchetta, Croasmun. Esperanto, the intermediate lan- guage used in Europe for over one hundred years, is the basis x for the Esperanto Club sponsored by Miss Porter. Lately, Radio Free Europe has adopted Esper- onto which makes Wilson's club a very up-to-date one. President Ethan Markowitz gave much spirit to this unusual club. The Woodrow Wilson Chess Club, under the direction of Mr. Eugene Hartman and its presidents, Larry Strauss and David Diamond, has grown so fast this year that it has emerged as Wilson's largest iunior-senior club. The club's inter-city competing team has had three wins, two losses and one tie. The team maintained a semester of no defeats until a final upset victory by Glendale.
