Th. team went undefeated in six meets and the Ieagut final, cracking a host of school records in the process Ernie Jones smashed the old shot put record when he tossed 48-V2 in the City prelims after hitting 47-IOV2 earlier in the season. Anthony Lincoln tied the low hurdles record with a 14.7 effort. Both Lincoln and .lones were league champs. Tom Serrato and Howard Wiseweaver ran second and third, respectively, in the circuit meet 100 and Ted Hill and Fidel Arredondo were second and third in the 180. Art Lopez nabbed a fifth in the high lump. C TRACK SQUAD-FIRST ROW: Coach Samarin, Huven, Lopez, Janes, Hull, Lopez, Hill, Coach Barthel. Y. i .I -Q A While the varsity and C teams were having their great- est seasons, the B team went through a campaign full of woe. Two pole vaulters, Alan Berliner and Frank Garcia, supplied the season high spot by placing fifth and third, respectively, in the Northern League final. Shot Putter Dave Lorge suffered misfortune, last a good chance of giving the Mules a gold medal in the league final. He shoved the 10-pound ball 48 feet, but slipped and fell out of the ring. The put was disqual- ified. Other Mulebabe standouts were Bucky O'Conner, who ran the 100 and 220, Dave Jackson, a hurdler, and Art Servanti, 660 man. However, the same old bugaboos-injuries and lack of depth-left the Mules in fourth place. For the first time since 1951, Wilson won a dual meet. In fact, the Mules won two meets within a single week. They trounced Lincoln, 69Vz-34V2, on a Monday, and edged powerful Eagle Rock, 53-51, the following Friday. Bob Raymond ranked among the league's top sprinters, capturing a fifth in the 100 and a fourth in the 220. Bob Kameoka, who tied the school 100 record of 10.2 in a pre-season meet, iniured a leg and was lost for the league schedule. Jim Johnson capped a good hurdling year with a league fifth in the 120 high, while Dave Nickerson ran fifth in the 880. John Chaplin, the team's highest scorer, ran second in the 440. Chaplin also shone in the quarter-mile. Joe Rivera, in his first vaulting season, gained a second-place tie in the loop finale. wf' fww Eiifltyi WIN ww' ON

A BASKETBALL SQUAD-KNEELING: Gallagher, Zenzola, Gutierrez, Diamond, Langimm, Garcia, Coach Naslund. STANDING: Van Horne, Kraus, R. Garcia, Hardy, Rivera, Chapman, Rashoff, Goldman CMgr.I. L I E The keynote in Wilson basketball for 1955 was new faces, both in players and in the coaching department. All but one member of the l954 varsity squad had graduated, and the coach had also departed. The new mentor, Mr. Gordon IBudI Naslund, steered his inexperienced crew to a four win-six loss record and a fourth place loop finish. Vic Diamond, the lone returned monogrammer, sparked the sophomore-iunior packed lineup by scoring a total of l35 points in I0 league games. He was named to the leogue's second team. Other regulars were Larry Kraus, who had the team's best free throw average C63 per centl Joe Rivera, Jim Garcia, and Bob Ashford.
