Winning 7 games, it dropped all opposing teams but Huntington Park and Belmont. Paced by two leading hitters, William Garcia and Anthony Troncale, and with the expert infield of Sarver at third, Mills at short, Shakleford at second, and Troncale at first, the Mules were a match for any team in the league. They drop- ped Marshall in the first league encounter by the score of 5-3. They knocked over Belmont with ease, and in the second round thumped Hunting- ton Park 7-3. In the final game of the year Mar- shall, who earlier had fallen 5-3, rolled all over the Mulebabes to the tune of 9-l. Holt, H. Sparke a , gg 1 . ,I . , . W. Garcia, D. Sarveig T. Scott. TOP: D. Three-year letterman Kenny Smith and four-year letterman Dean Harrier found berths as second and third All-City tennismen, respectively. The city finals came as the climax to a season in which the Mule team, after winning four out of five practice meets, netted three out of five league contests for a second place in the loop. The tennis taggers lost many a match by but a single point. Gary Slagle, Bob Singer, Jerry Pearlmutter, and Bob Shaw were boys who continued to keep Wilson in the game.
