Although a iourney with an old time mule team was no place for a woman, the girls of Muleville play equally as important a role as the boys in the advancement of the Mule Train. Taking an active part in sports, they are both spectators and contestants. Girls' athletic organizations, such as we have here at Wilson, play a large part in high school lite. athletic clubs are gym teachers Miss Waldo CGAAJ, Miss Jennings fGAAl, Mrs. Healy llettergirls, Ofticialsl, Mrs. Whittle UACJ. With flailing racquets, the Mule tennis ball thumpers held their own against powerful opposition, winning practice matches against top-ranking teams of the area. They garnered a third in league competition, losing to Marshall and H.P., and defeating Belmont. Standouts were Doug Markel, Dean Harrier, and Kenny Smith. These three boys took the brunt of the attack, win- ning most of the time, but the superior manpower of the rival schools was too much to cope with. Much praise must be given to Mr. Smith, excellent tennis player, who taught the boys the rights and wrongs of tournament tennis. WILSON 2 MARSHALL 5 WILSON 3 HUNT. PARK 4 WILSON 4 BELMONT 3
