Flanking Marty was another fine end, Jim Pappa. These two formed the most formidable pair of ends in the city. The backfield also shone brightly, with such stars as Austin Phillips at quarter, John Shambra and Ruben Ybarra at halfback, and Jack Elder at fullback. Taking the brunt of attack on the front B MENTOR-Coach Barthel taught his boys to power the pigskin to many a victory. wall were Gary Parker and Sol Dibner, guards, and Bob Zamarippa, center. The team's record showed wins over John Muir, Marshall, Huntington Park, and Belmont. Shambra piles through the Belmont line as Phillips watches.

Final score: Wilson 13, Lincoln 20. fYUnder the arches at Belmont, Wilson faced its final opponent, and, as always, the inevitable depth of the opposing squad kept the Mules to their off season. The Hilltopers over- came a half time lead by Wilson of 7-6 and won 19-7. Wilson scored when Rudy Viscarra ran 70 yards on a kickoff return. Even the gallant efforts of Gene Burg, Myron Berliner, and John Durbin, who were brilliant on defense, couldn't change the outcome. HIGHLIGHTS OF THE YEAR Paul Clark's passing in the Muir, Marshall, and Poly games. . Rudy Viscarra's brilliant running. . Gene Burg's pole driving and defense. . Myron Berliner's great all around play. - Teamwork of Bahnsen and Lloyd, who again and again opened holes that meant touchdowns. Placing of Viscarra and Durbin on the second team all-Northern.
