A favorite pastime of the muleteers was singing around their campfire as night drew close around them. Here, too, music is a favorite form of recrea- tion, due largely to Muleville's excellent music department. A Cappella, most sought-after sing- ing organization, contributed harmony and gaiety to assemblies, community programs, and the Varieties. The Senior Girls' Glee sang beauti- fully at the Christmas musical. The whole com- munity helped raise money to uniform the Band. Stirring music is a forte of the Senior Orchestra, their renditions at the Varieties and the Lincoln birthday assembly was proof of the puddin'. TOP LEFT: Rehearsing a specialty number are A Cappella soloists Marilyn Rolnick, Bob Johnson, Marilyn Knuclsen, and Joan Gibbs, with accompanist Varda Melitsoff. BOTTOM LEFT: A Cappella pianists Rae Lee Creelman and Varda Melitsoff team up for a duet at the Gaslight Varieties. 62
