W. W. GOES TO THE FAIR “So it's come then, Maidens and men. To the Fair in the pride Of the morning ” The first holiday of the year is High School Day at the State Fair of Texas. This day holds many memories for a Wilsonite. The excitement and bustle is evident as you first enter the gate with so many things to do and sec! The newest thing in cars, the new monorail, the showboats in the lagoon, the Parade of Presidents in the museum, and—the Midway! “Corny dogs,’' cotton candy, hamburgers, candied apples, iced cold drinks present a problem—how to eat them all and not get sick! The din of the barkers and ticket sellers; the milling crowd, “Hey, watch it, buddy! I only got two toes left,” and the brilliant color flaunted by signboards, balloons and students alike will always remain a vivid picture of High School Day. Top picture: Its nice to have a man around, such as Don Jones, to hold purses and belongings while you ride the rides at the Fair. The Woodrow girls arc Betty Maxon and Joan Presley. There are rides, rides, and more rides at the Fair, as Nancy Norris, Sue Sandel, Dorothy Schultz, Virginia Mason and Ellen Haraway will testify, as they prepare to board the “Koundup. Statues, umbrellas, and “Tex” do not detract from the good time Ann Brooks and Linda Thompson are having at the Fair. Hammy Fenlaw, with the prize bear, looks on. 24

WACO RECEIVES ENTHUSIASTIC WILDCATS An out of town football game, and 17 busloads of spirited Wildcat fans total one good time. Waco was rated fourth in the state, hut the Wildcats didn't give it a second thought. They went to Waco determined to show the highly touted Tigers some competition. This they did not only on the gridiron, hut also in the stands. The Woodrow eleven, rated a four-touchdown underdog, held the Waco-ans to 10-0 score. Many said the Wildcat crowd in the stands outnumbered the Tiger fans by a large margin. That wasn’t the only place the Wildcats showed spirit, either. They had a rollicking time on the buses! Excited Wildcat fans wave goodbye as they leave for a “right jolly” time in Waco. This is at a football game? Before the Waco game, the hand and drill team practiced on the field of the Waco stadium. Tuckered-out Wildcats! Carol Griffin and Susan Kuhland are fast asleep returning from the game, hut Ruth Sanders is still talking, to everyone’s dismay.
