li. L. HSHBUHN OUR PRINCIPAL We feel that We can not let this opportunity pass of expressing our admiration and respect for our prin- cipal, Mr. G. L. Ashburn. ln all our pleasures he has taken an active party at all our games and contests he has been a rooter on Whom We could rely: at all our parties and dances he and his gracious wife have been a vital part of the evening, at all our assemblies and programs he has remained in the background, yet enjoying our fun and sharing our responsibilities. The students have at all times been Well aware of his inherent qualities-tireless leadership, Wise counseling, and sympathetic understanding, but in these crucial times, we find that he is endowed with an even greater attribute-an actively patriotic spirit. His incessant efforts have inspired the school to a Whole-hearted participation in the war program. By encouraging the buying of War bonds and stamps, by supporting every scrap drive and salvage cam- paign, he has helped us to realize our duty in Wag- ing the battle on the home front, while our former classmates are fighting on the far-flung battle fields of the World. ln this period of conflict and strife, We are fortu- nate to have this patriot and friend of youth as our leader. THE SENIOR CLASSES.
