7a0wz.P' To Mr. G. L. Ashburn, more than any other individual, can be attributed the pres- ent position of Woodrow Wilson High School as one of the leading schools in the Southwest. Our class does not feel that it is doing anything new or startling in offering this page of appreciation to him, but this is the last time that the entire class of 1940 can tell him that his influence will always be felt by all the students of Woodrow Wilson High, that his keen feeling of honor and justice, his high ideals of citizenship and manhood will leave a deep impression on the future youth of Dallas, even though only a part of them may be under his direct control. Mr. Ashburn,s interest in scholastic at- tainment, character development, and ath- letic achievement mark him as a civic leader, his sympathetic understanding of our prob- lems and his genial comradeship mark him as our own beloved Pop Ashburn.

7a fl We MM! Jaw .Eemian Success of every worthwhile endeavor depends first upon the quality of its leaders. At Woodrow Wilson High School more than two thousand of us are fortunate in having a faculty qualified to supply that necessary leadership. But because the machinery of our vast educational plant is kept in smoothest working order, we are inclined to overlook the value of the organization responsible. For the advantages they give us, and for their faith in us, we salute Principal G. L. Ashburn and his efficient staff. FACULTY MR. G. L. ASHBURN . . MISS RUTH AEERNATHY. MISS VIRGINIA ADAMS .
