Edntornall SIHCQ the burning of ou1 building in nineteen tvs enty three the Wood land Hlgh School has been handicapped IH all 1ts departments by lack of p1ope1 bulldlng facilities and by a pe11od of f1nanc1al depression whlch has llmlted student '1ct1v1t1es to a great extent The Ilex has been no excep t1OH The annual of last yea1 conslsted necessarily of only a few pages bound together under the name Ilex Leaves The t1tle typified the meta phorlcal burnlng of the greater part of the Ilex in the fue vs hlch destroyed our school plant Thls year the student body fund was unusually low and as a result ts cont11but1on to the Ilex was proportlonately small The Ilex Show ordln arlly the prlnclpal source of revenue had to be glven up for lack of an giving sexeral buffet luncheons and a Carnival The assistance of both teachers and pupils however made these successful enough to ensure the publicatlon of the followlng record of school act1v1t1es In the Ilex of this year we have trled to glve you a book 1n WhlCh ey ery actxvlty of school llfe has a place It does not perhaps lnclude everything we would have liked to have 1ncluded but we have done our best to give a complete and we hope mteiestmg record ln the Ilex for mneteen twenty fue 0 Before submlttmg th1S book to your approval we feel that It IS f1tt1ng and proper that we say a few words of appreciation of the Woodland school board and the tax payers of the Woodland Hlgh School Dlstrict Due to thelr unfalllng labor and planning for which they recelved no remuner ation but well earned gratitude their task of arranglng temporary quarters and flnancmg a new bulldlng project was very great The wonderful re sponse of the tax payers assisted in rushlng the completion of a new bulld 1ng ln record time The prospects for next year are brilliant 1n their promlse for a better and bigger Woodland High School and we the departmg class of mneteen twenty f1VG wish to express our admiration for what the school board has done in the past and leave Wlth them our best wishes for a future of even greater success PAGE SIX Q . 1 . . . . 7 , 5 A' c - . l K ' . i ' - K ' 'Qi , kk ' v, r K KK 77 ' ' ' '3 v , K .
