Dr. Walter Kirkland Greene came to Wofford as President in 1942, succeeding Dr. Henry Nelson Snyder, who for forty years was president. Dr. Greene, himself a Wofford alumnus, in his brief tenure of office has demonstrated a keen insight into the needs of our institution, and already he has set in motion the machinery of the Wofford of Tomorrow Program, which will make the dreams of a bigger and better Wofford o reality. His personality is a unique combination of scholarship, leadership, and Christian stewardship. Scholarship is reflected in his knowledge and understanding; his initiative and foresight sponsor the quality of leadership; his faith, humility, and deep religious spirituality are inspiring virtues of Christian stewardship.
