BISHOP EDWIN DUBOSE MOUZON, ' 89 Bishop Edwin D. Mouzon, a bishop of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, was born in Spartanburg , S. C, on May 19, 1869. He received his A.B. degree from Wof- ford College in 1889. He later received a D.D. degree from Southwestern University in 1905. Southwestern honored him with an LL.D. in 1911, as did Duke University in in 1930. After his graduation from Wofford, Bishop Mouzon entered the Texas Conference and preached in various Texas and Missouri towns until 1908. In 1908 he became Professor of Theology at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. He continued in this professorial capacity until May. 1910 when he was elected a bishop in the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. He has served his Church faithfully in this office continuously since 1910. Bishop Mouzon has taken an active part in the educa- tional affairs and development of the Methodist Church. Aside from his holding a professorship at Southwestern, he took part in the founding of S. M. U. at Dallas, Texas. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of Scarritt College at Nashville, Venn. Bishop Mouzon is also a writer on religious and church matters. Among the books that he has written are Does God Care? Fundamentals of Methodism. The Pro- gram of Jesus, and Preaching With Authority.
