He was Staff Gunnery Officer of Commander Destroyer Squadron Nine in the Atlantic and served as Executive Officer of the University of Washington NROTC. He has commanded the attack transports, APPLING and MENIFEE and the destroyers TALBOT1' and BENHAM. Cap- tain Keeler was also Chief Staff Officer, Destroyer Task Flotilla Four as well as Chief of Staff and Aide of Commander Cruiser Division One in the Pacific. His shore duty has taken him to Colombia, South America where has was Chief of Naval Mission and Washington, D. C. where he served as Officer Distribution and Officer Retirement, I Before assuming command of the WISCONSIN on Septem- ber 3, 1955, Captain Keeler was Head of the Officer Distri- bution Branch, Bureau of Naval Personnel, Washington, D. C. Among his decorations are two Bronze Stars with V , three Letter of Commendation Ribbons with V and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with seven engagement stars. He is married to the former Miss Donna Ellen Balch of Seattle, Wash., and has one son, Frederic Seward, Jr., age 16. His present assignment is Chief of Staff to Commandant Twelfth Naval District.
