Conversation is an important part of Alumnae Day. Alumnae Association Unites Past and Present Students Mr. Roy Flynn, Director of Public Relations, talks with alumnae. The Alumnae Association pro- motes a closer association be- tween alumnae and present stu- dents. The Winthrop Alumnae Maga- zine, containing up-to-date news of alumnae, is published quarterly and sent to all alumnae who have contributed to the Annual Giving Fund during the year. Each spring alumnae are invited back to the campus for Alumnae Day to participate in meetings, class reunions, and the annual luncheon. College of Arts and Sciences Has New Dean The College of Arts and Sciences is divided into the following de- partments: Art; Biology; Chemistry and Physics; Communications; English; History, Political Science, and Geography; Mathematics; Modern and Classical Languages; Philosophy and Religion; Psychol- ogy; and Sociology. Dean William Easley in his first year at Winthrop has continued and augmented the successful integration of these var- ious departments into a college which encompasses most of the basic instruction carried on at Winthrop. Dr. Easley confers with a student on the problem of taking an overload for graduation. Art Department Makes Plans to Move The Art department provides courses needed by various majors such as home economics and pri- mary education as well as offering art to any interested student.
