New Library Stimulates Study May, 1969, signalled the begin- ning of a month of hectic labor as the contents of the old Carnegie Library were transferred to the new Ida Jane Dacus Library. Each of the approximately 240,000 volumes had to be cleaned, sorted, shipped to the library in time to be used for the summer session. Dedicated in October, the new Dacus Library contains many innovations: small study areas, electronic-eye doors, and wall-to-wall carpeting. These combine with a general feeling of spaciousness to provide a better study atmosphere. UPPER RIGHT: The new library is a place for study and relaxation. Graduate School Adds Two New Degrees Two major changes were made in the Graduate School this year. A Masters in Business Education, qualifying recipients of this degree to teach in community colleges and at technical education centers was added. A new program in Com- munications was’ implemented, primarily for speech therapists. In addition, Winthrop offers the Mas- ter of Arts, Master of Arts in Tea- ching, Master of Education, Master of Music, and Master of Science degrees.
