.It Happens Every Week Putting out The Jofmfonian is almost a full-time job. Typewriters begin humming on Mondays in the Tl ofhce as features and columns are made ready for the press. All during the week the editor and stooges gather and begin pounding out copy as the news of the week unfolds. Monday night and Tuesday are occupied with re-writing, cussing, and heading-up the stories of sophomore and freshman reporters. On Wednesday the paper is dashed off to the printers, and the printers evenly divide the typographical errors between the editorial and society pages. The Jofmfonian makes its appearance under dorm doors each week- much to the delight of every Winthrop girl. During first semester, Pat Shackelford was editor-in- chief, and Lucy Floyd was managing editor. As usual, there was a change in the editorial staff second semesterf Floyd stepped up to take the job of editor, and Alice Ray became managing editor. Throughout the year, Lura Jane Turner was business manager. Other staff members were associate editors Deane Rast Risher, Frances Cook and Jo Anne Montague. Iris Simpson was first semester Departmental Editor and Sammie Bowen was Society Editor. Iris moved to Society Editor second semester, while Harriet Ann Floyd took over her job. LAURA ANN ELLINGTON Editor-in-Chief flee jzfdr of mnefeen Here it is-all yours. We, the TATLER staff, welcome your comments, critical and otherwise Qpar- ticularly otherwisej. After a year of writing and re-writing copy, making and re-making pictures, and organizing and re-organizing material, we have a few words of advice for future staffs. Don't ever do anything till the very last minute, it'11 have to be done over. Schedule each club picture at least four times. Then, by making a composite of the four photos, you may wind up with half the membership pictured. Enlist the entire commerce department as typists. You'll need 'eml Last, spend the summer before your annual is to come out composing a lengthy list of fictitious names for use on those dozens of pictures of people one never saw before, never sees again, and feels sure are obnoxious creat- ures anyway. All griping aside we've had much fun getting the TATLER together and hope you enjoy it as much as we do. If you don't like our copy, jour- ney over to rooms 156 and 222, Senior Hall 5 homes of the creative minds of Lucy Floyd and Laura Jo Quinn. QThey are the responsible onesj If you l00k like a dope in a picture, complain to Mr. Paul Whit- ener, but keep this in mind-cameras don't lie!
