H. S. is very lucky to have such a v ell qualified admin- istration. Mr. Graves leads our administration as superinten- dent. Faithfully executing the office of principal is Mr. Lan- caster, for some students, at times, feel as though they have been executed. As secretary to the principal, Mrs. Poe works hard to see that the business end of the office is kept up. Oc tool j5oard B. |. They are the ones responsible tor writing up our school calendar and taking care of the budget. They are members of the community elected to serve h ' the community. £ifc ranan The library is an essential part of every liigh school. At some time during the year, every student needs information from the library for research papers, book reports, themes, etc. Miss Gilbert is very well inform- ed about the needs of students and is always ready to assist. ( oun elor The guidance counselor assists every student during their high school years. Mrs. Harrison is very well qualified in this field and is always ready to help a student in planning for the future. Thanks should now be given where it is seldom received. We are lucl ,y to have a dedicated staff in our school. The custodians see to it that we always have a clean and pleasant atmosphere in which to learn. The cafeteria ladies make sure that we have hot, nutritious meals each day. ath Mathematics is a broad subject which requires both students who are willing to learn and teachers who have the knowledge and capabilities to teach it. We in W. H. S. have both of these. Mr. Jordan takes the time and care to teach such subjects as Algebra I, Algebra II, Trigonometry, and Advanced Math. Coach Scott teaches the Introductions to Algebra I and Algebra II. He teaches them in away that students easily learn, which helps to make the advanced maths easier if they choose to take them later. Geometry is a subject which goes much into detail, but Coach Stubble- field has the ability to teach it so that his students can understand the mathematical equations. i v 14 department 15 i£aK0 uacfe Language is a written and spoken skill. All of us are lucky to be able to develop this skill at W. H. S. We have a competent group of teachers in this department. Mrs. Bauer teaches speech along with English I and II. Mr. Key takes care of English III. Mrs. Michaelis heads English IV, which for the first time is not required. Spanish I and II are taught with dedication by Mr. Spinks. 16 17 science In our science department, Mr. Poe, Mrs. Wetsel, and Coach Stubblefield try to offer a broad field of knowledge. The biology students, taught by Mrs. Wetsel, learn of the study of living organisms. Chem- istry, also taught by Mrs. Wetsel, is a science and a math where students learn about the atom and its structure. Mr. Poe teaches physical science, the intro- duction to chemistry and physics. Junior and senior students of W. H. S. enroll in physics, a course taught by Coach Stubblefield. . — 18 Jjepartment Jccationcil W. H. S. is proud to have such a large selection of vocational courses. Each course teaches useful skills that can be used immediately after graduation. Mrs. Joyce and Mrs. Hambright are ou r homemaking teachers. Mr. Hill educates several in shop and me- chanical drawing. The agricultural classes are led by Mr. Blackwell and Mr. Allcorn. Another active and very important vocational class in W. H. S. is the distribu- tive education class taught by Mrs. Harrison. Wi -! i % 1 JflSH k .. HBh 20 Jjepartment ■I M K? Government is a major social studies course and is taught by Mrs. Michaelis. Senior students seem to have a hard time learning about our government but all in all, it pays off in the end. Mrs. Michaelis also devotes much of her time in teaching Sociology and world geography. Coaches seem to have a thing about history, too. Coach Cathey and Coach Swenson share in teaching American History to W. H. S. stu- dents. Mrs. Schwartz gets the nostalgic feeling once a day and takes time away from her burning typewriter to teach Texas History. Putting up with the sopho- mores is Mr. Spinks. He is concerned with teaching his students World History. epcirttnent Mrs. Michaelis -jk ' Mr. Spinks Coach Swenson tI3u4 iMe«)«) department Mrs. Bredemeyer Mrs. Schwartz There is more to business than just typing. For example, shorthand, bookkeeping, and clerical practice are offered in the field of business. Courses such as these offer a challenge to many students and enable them to gain new experience and readiness. Our business department is headed by two very qualified teachers. However, at times, Mrs. Schwartz forgets to call time at the end of a timed-writing, and Mrs. Bredemeyer misplaces everything she needs at the moment. e curce W. H. S. is fortunate enough to have a well-rounded resources class. During the year, these students deco- rated for Christmas, the NHS induc- tion, and various other occasions. Mrs. Hudson teaches the resources class. p.e. This year is the start of a whole new physical education course. For the first time in W. H. S. there is a coed P. E. class. They do more than just the usual exercises. Golf, Softball, football, volleyball, and others are common exercises for these participants. 25 nap4 26 1977 FAVORITES iSenior avcrite Ouug Rugeii 28 Cindy Pumphrey punier avoritci Mike Davis Belinda Hill 29 s opUomore avorlte Sieve Hdll 30 K.uhy Fenwick j-r U.n Cin avorlte Wayne Kraat ncip Setter side of an Aggie.
