Our team had won three games and lost one when Mike Cook Captain and sparkplug . of the offense dislocattd his shoulder in the first quarter of the Apopka game, However, Cook's absence for over a month was followed by the absence of several more Q-1 who were laid up by flu . By the time of the Central t J Florida Tournament the squad was able to meet hard A competition. Winter Park defeated St. Cloud by tak- W ing an early lead and using all the subs to coast in at the finish. Our improvement was shown by defeating 'I Lyman. a small school with a big, good team, The ' next morning in the semi-final they finally gave way to r Tavares after leading in the first half. Tavares proved f ,W 1-. to be the best team by winning the final game, and also 'A .sl X 1 C.-. ... rr - F R .N . 3 W ik Q 1:- 4 .'l tis. W s is L xi gi' 1 ' 2' wel' fm the State Fifth District Tournament, a week later. In . - 1 this tournament, VVinter Park met Leesburg, a strong team with a fair record. Our team led until Cox was V taken out on fouls. Other highlights of the season were two wins over Sanford, who had defeated Tavares twice, lt Q one over Mt. Dora when we used subs. The first team won 12 and lost ll. Although we have won more games before and lead stronger squads there was a general y improvement over the showing of the other years 4 because we played only one weak team in the entire i i ever before. season, and were running closer to the best teams than X J
