Stifled by injuries, the Varsity roundballers posted a H0-15 pre-district record. As the season opened, the Chargers fell victim to the Unicorns of New Braunfels by the score of 49-40, but quickly redeemed them- selves against San Marcos by winning 54-50. Pre-district went on its way with Churchill playing .500 ball most of the time. The New Braunfels Tournament was high- lighted by Gene Sueltenfuss' making the all-tournament team as Churchill captured the consolation trophy by defeating Kennedy 59-50. Mark Musson and Mike Young along with Sueltenfuss were consistently top scorers throughout the pre- Histrict season.
