. A, ir! ff' 3 5 WINTER CAR NIVAL XVinslow's 2nd annual XYinter Carnival with Fair- field and Good XYill was held on a verx' sunnx' Fehruarv 15th. XVinslow skaters swept the skating which was held at South Fnd Arena. However, Good lVill dom- inated the skiing and Snowshoeing. These events, along with tohogganing, flying saucer races, and a baked bean dinner, were held at Good XVill. The Hin- slow-Fairfield Reanpot was permanently won hy lVin- slow. Good XYill won the TRI-School Carnival with 133 points. XVinslow was second with 124 points, and Fairfield trailed with 59 points. The King and Queen were Ren Hienriek and Gloria Oram, both of Good Hill. llie runnersfup were Geraldine Rand, Good lYill, and Dave Ifill, Yllinslow. Successful XYinslow participants were Betty Hussey, lean Lemieux. lean Xlathieu. Carol Mosher. Nancy Culpovieh, and loanne Fstes in the girls' division. Billy Girard, Newell Smith. INDUSTRIAL TRAINING Robert Pelletier was grand prize winner in the sophomore division at the 1957 Maine In- dustrial Arts Fair. He received the Director's trophy, presented by Maurice Varney, state vocational education director. He also re- ceived a vibrator sander and polisher. In the senior division, Gerald Giroux won first place with a Hollywvood style bed. Har- old McCaslin won second place with a book cabinet. In the freshman division, Reginald Pelletier won first place with outdoor post lamps. Good Worlcmanship, Hal. The types of shop work given in our extensive industrial arts program are wood and metal work, electricity, and mechanical draw- 111 . g Winslow will participate in the 1958 State Fair. The senior division will be entered by Hal McCaslin with a kneehole desk, and by Mickey Poulliot with kitchen cabinets. These cabinets will also be entered in the Maine Future Vocational Apprenticeship Program. Robert Pelletier will enter the junior division with a chest of drawers. Others in this division will be Barry Dolley with a Mr. 9 and Mrs. chest of drawers, Francis Gregory with a kneehole desk, and YVarren Bernatchez with a step table. In the sophomore division Dave Ihll will enter a kneehole deskg .. O5 Robert Dugal, a mahogany chestg and Ted Markee will enter a corner table. In the 1957 National Ford Industrial Arts Award Contest, Barry Dolley won one of the 1500 awards. There were over 50,000 contestants from the L'nited States, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. Q'
