Winslow vs. Glendale Independence, was a nothing nothing game into the middle of the second quarter. Winslow sustained a strong drive in their first possission taking them all the way to Glendale's eight yard line. Paul Tyler did not clearly receive a handoff from Stanely Montano causing a turnover, in Glendale's favor, which was the first and most critical mistake in the Bulldog's 44-0 loss. Orchestra performed in two concerts, the Christmas concert and their own spring concert. Three orchestra members also went to regionals. This year's band worked hard to make their half time performances accurate. They played at our pep assemblies to make them more lively and spirited. Winslow High is proud of the band because they have made our school quite original. The band performed at ASU for band day. In the middle of the season they played poorly losing to Holbrook a double header to Coconino. The end of the season was their strongest point. The Bulldogs swept Flagstaff Tuba City to tie with Mingus for the conference championship. They went to state seeded first from the North, and lost to Lake Havasu. 11-2 in a poorly executed ball game. The Dogs are losing nine seniors this year and will have a young team next year. The seniors put a great deal of time and effort into their class day and it was well worth the hard work. This years class day consisted of slides and a variety of music. They make up a skit and also read the senior prophecies and wills. The seniors of 1982-83 all went to Big Surf for some fun in the sun. They left Wednesday morning the 18th and stayed the whole day in the hot sun of Phoenix but there weren't any complaints from them. WITH TWO SPECIAL DAYS UP WHERE WE BELONG GRADUATION 1983 163 WE MADE As the Editor of the 1983 Meteor. I found myself going through a lot of changes from sophomore assistant editor to book editor. We had a lot of problems this year since our staff was inexperienced. A lot of hard work and dedication went into the yearbook. I would like to thank the photographers and the rest of the yearbook staff for making the yearbook possible. I would like to thank our advisor Mr. Watts he has had as much hard work as we have had - in some cases even more. We hope you enjoy the yearbook and that it gives you memories in the years to come. To the teachers thank you very much for your help and support. 164
