MASCOTS The mascots have promoted a great deal of school spirit during the past year. They are an extension of the cheerleading squad, an active branch of the Pep Squad, and strong supporters of WHS. Mascots perform their gymnastic acts during all the football and at the opening of the basketball games. Their performances are graceful and they show that they have a talent in performing their acts. Hardwork, fun, and tradition are all involved in putting on great performances for the audience. Mascots for the year 1973-74 were Laura Chambers Julie Schcid, Kathy Thompson, KellyRemy, and Karen Benefield. Pictured At Top are Julie Schied and Laura Chambers. Meteorettes L-R: Dana Hasten, Karen Balenquah, Patti Cavin, Louise Seber, Geraldine Gonzales, Marcia Wilhoite, Polly Cain, Louri Whipple, Rhonda Linstra, Sheila Harris, Kathy Garcia, Beverlee Stucker, Gay Butler. METEORETTES The Meteorettes were expanded in 1973-74 to 13 members. Twelve of them performed at the football and basketball games and the 13th served as a substitute in case one of the regular girls was absent. They worked hard to promote WHS spirit. Tryouts are held every spring and certain requirements are set that have to be passed for a girl to be eligible. One requirment is a girl must make her own routine on pom pons and a novelty. To promote more spirit then ever they had the band march around the school calling the students out for rallies. These short pep sessions proved to be a great success. Last year's performers chose for a change, to perform to old time favorite songs rather than modern day music. With the help of their sponsor, MissJoan Lancaster, the girls contributed a great deal to the Bulldog spirit. They made up all of their routines and worked hard to put on a good performance for the student body. Meteroettes form traditional W .

WHO'S AFRAID OF THE BIG BAD BULLDOGS! THEY ARE, THEY ARE! These and various cheers were heard during the athletic season and at various pep assemblies. Varsity Cheerleaders for the year 1973-74 were Mari Faucher, Debbie Owens, Susi Keller, Cindy Kidd, Debbie Heartz, and Judy Kalisz. Leading the spectators in cheering they displayed the spirit of WHS to encourage our teams on to victories. Fun, Fun, hardwork, and tradition are what makes these girls the soul body for cheering. Selling small objects with sayings on them helped to raise money to buy treats for the athletes. Making up new cheers and getting people involved are their responsibilities. Varsity Cheerleaders are shown forming a pyramid which shows grace and beauty. Getting involved is part of the cheerleaders job as shown here during Freshmen Orientation.
