SCIENCE CLUB Winslow High School's Science Club had a very active year. The purpose of the club is to promote interest in subjects pertaining to the field of science. Meetings consist of various programs of science, presented by the students. Last year the students attempeted to take pictures of the comet Kohoetek. Among the money making projects were selling donuts at noon and selling plants from the green house. Officers for the year were Chuck Serna, president; Ken Ekstrom, vice-president; Perry Rickard, secretary-treasurer; Jim Summersgill, representative. F.T.A. F.T. A. stands for Future Teachers of America. The members of the club have some interest in the teaching profession. The purpose of the club is to create an interest in the teaching field. A requirement is that a member has to observe a classroom in process. The student may be doing the actual teaching or may be taking notes. There were 12 members in the club in 1973-74. Officers for the club were Laura Fore, president and representative; Gina Jenkins, vice-president; Brenda Smith, treasurer; and Janet Heflin, secretary. S CLUB In 1973-74 the members of N.O.T. had a Hollo-ween party for the mentally retarded children at the M.R. school. Collecting for Easter Seals and Muscular Dystrophy were among several of the service projects the club undertook. They also campaigned to educate students on the effects and causes of venereal diseases. Officers for the year were Claudette Hasten, president; Myrna Pavatea and Mary Ellen Plese, vice-presidents; Priscilla Pavatea, secretary; Polly Cain, treasurer; Hazel Perry, representative. S stands for service which is what S Club represents. The purpose of the club is to be of service to the school and community. The club participated in sponsoring a football game against W Club. They also helped with a spaghetti dinner and helped serve at banquets. Officers for the year were Laura Bertino, president; Polly Cain, vice-president; Frances Orozco, treasurer; Judy Kalisz, secretary; Cindy Kidd, representative. SPANISH CLUB Spanish Club is an organization for students interested in the Spanish language, and customs. During 1973-74 Spanish Club sponsored such money-making projects as selling all-occasion cards and winning the Scuzz Dance Queen Contest. Officers for die year were Jim Summersgill, president; Linda Flores, vice-president; Teresa Guzman, secretary; Carol Plese, treasurer; Priscilla Romero, representative D.E.C.A. Distributive Education Clubs of America is composed of those students who are interested in marketing, store management, and retailing. There are many opportunities available to these students. Officers for the year were Jerome Moore, president; Donald Perry, vice-president; Rosanne Handler, secretary; Louella Nashsonhoya, treasurer; Glen Tibbs, representative; Lois Argetsinger, historian; Lavetta Leeds, parlimentarian.
