HO WHS Honor Society had a busy year several activities. The first major event Honor Society induction, which was heU 1973. The organization inducted 20 mei Seniors and 9 Juniors. Honor Society is a service club, and year is to be of service at least once to tl community, and to charity. As its school year, the organization decorated the classre and halls and set up a Christmas tree on th floor of the building. As a community servi group sold candy. CHESS CLUB Chess Club was one of three new organizations at WHS during 1973-74. The purpose of this organization is to instill interest in and promote appreciation of the game. The sponsor was Mr. Joe Gonzales. Officers elected in mid-October were Theron Freeman, president; Steve DeAngelis vice-president; Kenneth Ekstrom, secretary; and Don Perry, treasurer. Rex Shumway was elected president at semester. The organization is composed of varsity and junior varsity squads, and matches were held within the Club and with nearby schools. Members at Right are (Front Row) Rex Shumway, Perry Rickard, Donald Perry, Frank Jue, Steve DeAngelis, (Back Row) Dudley McGonagill, Paul Shumway, Mike Falling, and Mark Bradley. REACH-OUT During 1973-74 Reach-Out sponsored a Head-Start Christmas party, which was open to any student who wished to participate, had Recreation Night, and held a successful Evening of Christian Drama, a trilogy of religious plays. This was a new activitiy during the year. The organization met on Wednesdays; guest speakers attended the meetings as an added interest. Reach-Out is a non-denominational organization for students interested in bettering themselves and their communities through Christian endeavors. Officers for 1973-74 were Elaine Douthitt, president; Buddy West, vice-president; Sandi Linder, secretary-treasurer; and Ken Ekstrom, Student Council representative. Mr. Ron Harris served as sponsor and helped select and produce the trilogy of Christian drama. At Right members of Reach-out have their annual election of officers for the coming year.

S CLUB In 1973-74 the members of N.O.T. had a Hollo-ween party for the mentally retarded children at the M.R. school. Collecting for Easter Seals and Muscular Dystrophy were among several of the service projects the club undertook. They also campaigned to educate students on the effects and causes of venereal diseases. Officers for the year were Claudette Hasten, president; Myrna Pavatea and Mary Ellen Plese, vice-presidents; Priscilla Pavatea, secretary; Polly Cain, treasurer; Hazel Perry, representative. S stands for service which is what S Club represents. The purpose of the club is to be of service to the school and community. The club participated in sponsoring a football game against W Club. They also helped with a spaghetti dinner and helped serve at banquets. Officers for the year were Laura Bertino, president; Polly Cain, vice-president; Frances Orozco, treasurer; Judy Kalisz, secretary; Cindy Kidd, representative.
