This year's annual class elected Mark Soo Hoo as 1972 Annual King. Mark was a freshman class representative and received the freshman scholarship. He has been in Science Club for three years, and was president of the club his senior year. Mark has been a member of Honor Society for two years, and was treasurer his senior year. He was a Boys' State delegate in 1971. He was the state winner of the Masonic Essay contest in his junior year and second place winner in his sophomore year. Becuase he is very active both in and out of school, we proudly elected Mark as Annual King 1972. ANNUAL KING MARK SOO HOO This year the annual class elected Miss Elaine Peterson as the 1972 Annual Queen. Elaine has been active in school activities during her years in high school. She has been a member of GAA for four years. She was secretary during her junior year and president of the club her senior year. She has been in Pep Squad for three years. Elaine was a Big Top Candidate and a gymnastics letterman during her sophomore year. She was S-Club corresponding secretary of 1972 and senior class representative. Elaine has been a Mat Maid for two years. She was in the senior play cast. Because of Elaine's accomplishments in high school, we are proud to elect her as the 1972 Annual Queen. BIG TOP 72 I Soul dancers--Ronnie Van and Kathy Matthews t Vince and Darlene—Big Top King and Queen. After a year's rest, Big Top was back again this year on March 11, 1972. This year's theme for Big Top was Getting Together, because tins is what it is all about, now. Vince Juarez and Darlene Nicols were chosen as queen and king to reign over the Big Top. Various songs, skits, and routines were presented that all tied in with this theme. There was poetry read, the Mctcorettes performed their routines, and songs and skits galore ! As usual, there was the battle of the bands, featuring Ironwood, Mantis, and the Key Club kazoos. Altogether it was an enjoyable evening of entertainment with everyone getting together! Rocky Rejuvcnator and Nick Nastinator, alias Linda Keller and Diane Heartz. KEY CLUB SWEETHEART This year the Key Club selected Miss I.orena Nichols as their Sweetheart. She was a Miss Merry Christmas candidate in her Junior year and a Homecoming candidate in her Senior year. She had the lead part as Catherine Marshall in the Senior play. MISS MERRY CHRISTMAS Every year the students of the high school have the priviledge to elect a candidate as Miss Merry Christmas. There is always great competition from the classes in the school. This year the freshman class collected the most cans, thus winning the competition. The class chose as their candidate Miss Judy Kalisz. Miss Kalisz is a very active member in her class. This contest is a favorite of all the students in the school as all of them seem to participate. This is and was a great activity to and for the students as a sort of recreational purpose. Many can goods were collected which go to the underpriviledged families in Winslow. MR. UGLY This year the meteorrettes of the Winslow High School again sponsored the annual Mr. Ugly contest. With all of the hard work and participation of the students, this event came out to be very successful. In the end it all paid off with the choosing of Lew Argctsingcr as the Mr. Ugly for the 1971-1972 school year. Lew was only one of the many competitors for this event which was exciting. Besides being the Mr. Ugly guy for this year, Lew is also very active in’ the athletic program of the school. For example; he's very active in football, basketball, and track. 20
