VOLLEYBALL DOLORES CARTER Helping to 'ground offw the sports schedule at WHS is Volleyball. Stressing skill and precision instead of speed, this sport has long been a favorite in the school. Hopes are high for a record of victories this year. Everyone is eagerly anticipating the District Rally at NSC. This tournament will he held on April 24. Volleyball is one sport that has no classification, every school plays each of the other schools. The Tigerette Volleyball Team under the capable direc- tion of Coach Carter is looking forward to a good season. WINNFIELD HIGH SCHOOL TRACK TEAM STANDING: Long, Albritton, AHatten, Bonnette, Long, Collins, Mayes, Anders, Bryant, Berry. MIDDLE ROW: Reeves, Collins, Adams, Martin, Cordon, Bolton, Melton. KNEELING: Howell, Burch, Latham, Turner, Wroten, Hugh, Smith. Scheduled for the months of April and May is Track, one of the last sports of the year in which Winnfield High participates. As soon as the weather is warm enough, the Track Squad begins reporting to the field, for some hard workouts and the excellent coaching of Coach Straughn. The Tigers are expected to give all their opponents some stiff competition. The coaches and team are anticipating a good season. lt is hoped that the school can enter meets weekly, with several of the contests staged on the home field. The climax of the season will occur late in the year with district com- petition. ln the event that our team wins this contest, their next and final step will be the state meet.
