Serving with the band is a squad of six majorettes, who assisted in the presentation of half-time shows. The major- ettes, Brenda Carpenter, Jan Jenson, Glenda Calk, Sherie Dunn, Mary Lynn Wells and Fran Varnell, presented a twirling routine during the half-time ceremonies at each football game. Head Drum Major this year is Allen Roy Swilley. He has been in the band five years and Drum Major one year. Page 28

Band, under the direction of Mr. Ralph Irving, ranked among the school's most active organizations, its functions varying from playing for formal concerts to loyal support of the football team. During the fall, the band played at all Tiger games, presenting half- time shows and supplying snappy music all throughout the game. The band marched in the Forest Festival, Homecoming, and Rodeo Parades. They also presented a performance of music at the State Teachers, Con- vention held at Alexandria, Louisiana.
