,gn Wemoriam Mr. F. P. Austin The Steps of a Good Man are ordered by the Lord and he delighteth in his Way.N Psalms 37:23 Truly this could be said of Mr. F. P. Austin to whom this page is dedicated in Memoriam of his life of service not only in the school- room but everywhere. He was born January l, 1866 and died November 15, l9b8. His early days were those of privations and seemingly adversitiesg however they proved stepping stonesfbr his determination, faith and efforts. When twenty years of age he was only in the fourth grade, yet he had that progressive upward look which caused him to keep reaching out- ward and onward until he became a very successfulieacher and citizen in every phase. He began teaching early in manhood and followed this Great Calling for forty five years, the last twenty five of which were spent in Wingo, Kentucky. A very striking oo-incident was that his teaching career and the old school building in which he taught his last years both went into the annals of history at the same time. Yet there was a difference in that incident since the building of brick and mortar soon went into wreckage while the life of Mr. Austin kept living and mellowing. Mr. Austin not only lived long but lived much. He not only taught lessons but taught people and he loved and taught people because he first loved God. Mr. Austin though being dead yet liveth and speaketh because he gave of himself to all with whom he had dealings or came in contact. His main principle back of all of this was Love. He loved his every student and possessed a personal interest and touch for each one. Assuredly, Mr. Austin was a concrete example of the poets' voice when he said UHe Lives Host Who Loves Most.W 4
